20TEN Australian Mens and Mixed Netball Championships

Posted on Monday, November 02, 2009

AUSTRALIA'S elite men's and mixed netballers will descend on Melbourne at Easter 2010 for what promises to be a pivotal moment in the history of netball in Australia.

April will mark three years since the Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Association invested its trust in new leadership to boldly push toward establishing this version of our great game as a fixture in the Australian netball community.

All netball roads will lead to Melbourne for a week of exciting sport at open, reserve and under age levels.

Often considered to be a novelty or new event, most observers are surprised to learn that these championships are rich in history, dating back as far as 1985.
Teams will contest:

Open Men's Men's Reserve
23 & Under Men 19 & Under Men
17 & Under Men Men's Masters
Open Mixed Mixed Reserve

Victoria's Men's Netball President James McCallum could not be happier with preparations for the event.

"We are planning for around 400 participants," McCallum said.

"That's 30 teams, 30 to 40 umpires, 2000 spectators.

"It's a big event and we have a terrific team doing a lot of work".

The 20TEN Championships will be hosted at the Oakleigh Recreation Centre in Melbourne's south.

"We really want to step things up this year, with more teams, more spectators and more matches," McCallum said.

"One of our key goals is to ensure that all participants feel as though they have been a part of the best event of its type.
